The USILA and USLacrosse Coach's Council delegate the authority to select athletic and academic All-American status to one player-student for each five teams coached by USLCA coaches. In 1998 the MSLA represented 17 teams and therefore selected three athletic and one academic All-Americans. The MSLA's 1999 All-Americans were: Athletics Pat Hogan - Senior Midfielder for DeSmet Jesuit High School and selected as a High School All-American in his Junior year. Will attend and play NCAA Division I lacrosse with the 1999 NCAA Championship runner-up - Syracuse University in Upstate New York. John Hunt - Senior Goalie for Christian Brothers College High School. Will attend and play NCAA Division I lacrosse at Towson State in Maryland. Justin Wilkinson - Senior Attackman for Lafayette High School and the MSLA's scoring leader for the 1999 season. Honors Ren Pettinelli - Coach of the Year - Lafayette High School Lancer Lacrosse Head Coach. Ren has been a key force in organizing youth, high school and men's lacrosse throughout the mid-West and particularly in St. Louis. He has established and managed youth leagues, training camps, coaching and teaching seminars and has been an outstanding figure in promoting the sport. He is the area representative to the USILA and the USLacrosse Coach's Council. Ren played lacrosse for Hobart College and graduated in 1985. Bob Schulte - Lacrosse Man of the Year. Bob is the President of the St. Louis Lacrosse Foundation, Head Coach of the Ladue High School team, and a senior official with the Mid-West Lacrosse Officials Association. His dedication to the sport and to youth and high school lacrosse has been a pillar of the MSLA and mid-West lacrosse. Bob attended and played for MIT when the hats were leather and the sticks were wooden.
