BOARD MEETING MINUTES

February 24, 2005

Call to Order

Ren Pettinelli called the meeting to order at 7:00pm. 

Approval of Minutes

The minutes from the January meeting are now posted on the website and were approved as posted.   

Treasurer’s Report

Cash balance of $16,085.29 was approved. 

Reports

A)   Coaches -  The Rules meeting was 100% attended on Feb. 12   The NCAA 2005 rule book will be posted on the MSLA website.  The major change is the shoulder pad.  The bone on top of the shoulder must be covered.  Refs will be checking to make sure it is.   

B)   Officials – St Louis has 8 new refs in training. 

C)   US Lacrosse – J C Dillon, Pres, gave a short update on the MO Chapter.

D)   Girls Lacrosse – They are going to attempt to get sanctioned again this spring.

Old Business

A)   MSLA Dues  - If you did not pay at the Feb. meeting mail the 2005 dues to treasurer, Jerry Olive.  If dues are not paid by the Feb. meeting, fines will be assessed.

B)   Insurance – Certificates of Insurance naming MSLA as Additional Insured due prior to March 14.

C)   15 man roster—Due to Ren before March 14.

New Business

A) National Senior Showcase—June 25 this year at Soccer Park.  Would like a host team for each of the 4 regions that would sponsor a BBQ or something for the boys and their families on Friday evening after practice.  The host team would also need to provide transportation to practices and the game on Sat as well as the banquet Sat night and to the airport on Sun.

B) State Tournament – Semi finals May 26.  Finals May 28 2 p.m. at Lindenwood.
 

C) Rebate Program – Ron Kellam, varsity coach at SLUH, works for Am Home Mortgage and they have a rebate program they are going to offer MSLA teams to use as a fundraiser if they wish.  For every home loan that is originated the team will get a check for $300 if they participate.  Ron and Ren will be getting the information on the Power of Sharing Program out to all the team reps.
 

D) Columbia player eligibility—a player on one team in Columbia has moved schools and would like to continue playing for his old team.  It was moved and seconded that the MSLA rule that a boy must play for the school district where he resides be upheld.

Other

Freshman Saturdays—April 2, 9 and 23 this year.  $135/team/Saturday.  Please mail check with your dates to play and Certificates of Insurance to Missouri Amateur Lacrosse by March 4.

Stats on Line—Due to sale of Pulitzer we may have to begin paying for this service.  As Ren learns more, he will let everyone know what is going on.

Next Meeting – April 21, 2005 – 7:00 PM at DeSmet High School , room 102.
