BOARD MEETING MINUTES

February 19, 2004

Call to Order
  • The meeting was called to order by Jay Coleman.
Approval of Minutes
  • No minutes were supplied for the January 2003 minute.
Treasurer’s Report
  • Report was presented by Jerry Oliver with all information available on the website.
Regular Reports
  • High School Women’s Division (sanctioning for Girls) petition filed for MHSAA did not receive enough signatures.
  • US Lacrosse – We will be hosting the National Senior Showcase. The games will be on June 26th at AB Soccer Park. The showcase will need volunteers for site related help. They also need host families to house the players the night of June 25th. Contact Ren Pettinelli for any additional information.
  • MALOA Per Bob Schulte – MALOA. All MSLA teams were requested to supply at least one if not more names for individuals to become referees. The sport is growing and more referees are needed each year. If you know of someone interested in becoming a referee, it is not too late, contact Bob Schulte. New referees added this year are 3 in St. Louis and 2 in Kansas City.
  • There is a problem with too many games for MALOA to cover on April 17th. MALOA is requesting games be rescheduled and there will not be a rescheduling fee. Otherwise, some games may not be covered.
  • Parent reps need to contact all coaches to make sure they attended the referee meeting and took the test. Any coach that did not attend can take the test electronically.
Old Business
  • Insurance Forms – All teams are required to supply Certificates of Liability Insurance. The certificates are to be issued to MSLA, MALOA, your home field and school district, Anheuser-Busch Soccer Park and to St. Louis County. No certificates are needed for the teams away games. If you have not requested certificates, contact Bollinger, Inc at 800-526-1379. Legally, no games are to be played until the certificates are issued.
  • Mail all certificates to Doug Hejna, 1451 Westbrooke Meadows Ln, Ballwin, MO 63021.
  • All star game in St. Louis – no additional information developed. .
  • Collecting fee money. Varsity 350 JV 100 Freshmen 75. Any team that has not yet paid the fees need to contact Jerry Olive, Treasure.
  • Schedule – a copy of the MSLA 2004 Schedule was available at the meeting.
  • Schedule Change Rule – a fee for changing or adding games will be applied and must be approved by the MSLA board and MALOA.
New Business
  • New Districts – Due to growth, redistricting will be necessary. This is a preliminary discussion with Jay Coleman handing out a possible change.
  • No practice before March 1 – Just a reminder, no teams may start practicing before March 1. Players conditioning is approved with 4 or less players.
  • Eligibility – All parent reps and coaches are required to certify all players have passing grades with at least 2 ˝ credits. A complete roster list is to be given to Doug Hejna, Secretary by March 15th .
  • Restricted Player List – MUST be submitted before the start of games on March 11th. The list can be sent to Doug Hejna, Secretary by mail, e-mailed to hejnasports@charter.net or faxed with the fax number being 636-861-2553. The list is 15 players including 6 midfielders, 4 attack, 4 defense and 1 goalie.
  • Website directions – it was requested that the parent reps make sure all maps shown on molax.org are correct. These maps will be used by both the visiting team and referees.
  • National Development Program – a new program is starting based on an article in Inside Lacrosse. Currently, this program is not supported by the coaches council due to the conflict with the high school season. Additional information to follow.
